Top 100 Wines of 2004 - San Francisco Chronicle
"One of the best Syrahs of the year, although with very limited production. It has an extracted palate of cherry, cassis, blackberry, tar, black olive, earth and anise, supple mouthfeel and elegant structure."
2002 Russian River, Alegria Vineyard Syrah
WineCountry.Com
"The ripe cheeries of the Russian River are deliciously abundant, framed in sweet oak and layered in a plush texture, and the wine finishes long and warm."
2002 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley, Dutton Ranch, Morelli Lane Vineyard
Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine
"The leading bottling of the Lost Canyon trio, this wine blends crème brulee oak with ripe, lively cherry aromas and follows up on the palate with a viscous, glyceriny- textured mouthfeel and plump flavors."
Morelli Lane Vineyard 2002 Russian River Pinot Noir - 89 rating and One Puff
Wine Enthusiast
"What an interesting wine this is. It's intricate in aromas and flavors, with a arrange that includes cherry, cola, sweet wild blackberry and spices, and has a complex tannins and crisp acidity. It's obviously a young wine, and very exuberant and expressive in its youth. But it's so balanced, it will probably age gracefully."
Sonoma Coast Stage Gulch Vineyard Syrah 2002 - 90 Rating
Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine
"Ripish cherry fruit tinged with high-toned and narrow notes are filled out by a subtle touch of smoky oak in the aroma, and the ripe somewhat fleshy flavors lean in a minerally directions."
Las Brisas Vineyard 2002 Los Carneros Pinot Noir
The Pinot Report
"Medium ruby red color, light spice red cherry aromas, delicate notes; ripe and light red cherry and strawberry flavors. Nice acidity, structure and balance, lingering finish. Delicate and aromatic, this Pinot strives for and achieves an elegant and balanced style without excessive oak."
Saralee’s Vineyard Russian River 2002 Pinot Noir - 90 Rating
The Pinot Report
"Medium ruby red color; deep and rich aromas of red cherry, spice and some earthy “forest floor” nice structure and balance , long finish. A rich and ripe style with more forward fruit flavors, this wine will please now but also benefit from some time in the bottle."
Dutton Ranch/Morelli Lane Russian River 2002 Pinot Noir - 91 Rating
The Pinot Report
"Medium ruby red color, light berry/cherry notes with a hint of spice and pepper on the nose; lighter bodied, light and silky texture, jus the right touch of toasty oak, good structure, balanced with a lingering finish. Very nice lighter style of Pinot – elegant and well structured – it has all the right stuff."
Las Brisas Vineyard 2002 Los Carneros Pinot Noir - 89 Rating
Wine & Spirits
"Relatively light in color and almost Pinot Noir in weight, this bright, saline syrah bristles with fresh raspberry flavors. Crisply tailored, wound tight around light tannin, this is ready to pour. It may gain considerable complexity with age."
Sonoma Coast Stage Gulch Vineyard Syrah 2002 - 90 Rating
San Francisco Chronicle
"Outstanding and the panel’s top pick, Violet, cedar, spice and cola nose, extracted flavors of cassis, blackberry tar, black olive, earth and anise; elegant structure."

Carneros Pinot Noir 2001
Wine Enthusiast
"Simple and jammy...with lip-smacking, candied flavors of cherries, raspberries, and spicy mocha. Feels light and silky to the mouth, with gentle acids and tannins."
Carneros Pinot Noir 2001
Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine
"Redolent of ripe cherries seasoned with rich creamy oak, this wine is surprisingly moderate in concentration, and it gets much of its support from us for its balanced underlying structure and its somewhat exotic nuances of dried flowers and root beer. Its complexity is beyond question."
Carneros Pinot Noir 2001
The Pinot Report
"Medium ruby color: berry and cherry notes, as well as spicy, clove note; nice ripe black berry flavors with toasty vanilla oak, good structure, balance with a lingering finish. This is a nice, complex Russian River Pinot. Worth the search."
Russian River Pinot Noir 2001
The Pinot Report
"Medium ruby color, cherry and earth aromas, spice oak on nose, full rich on palate. Good forward flavors with the structure and balance to match but not overdone with oak. Nice style from a new producer and I think one to watch."
Carneros Pinot Noir 2001
Wine & Spirits
"Vibrant, lifted by spicy fruit, this is grounded in mineral tones hard and black as granite. Grown on a hill near the Petaluma Gap, the wine shows good promise, even with its slight sage green edge. Pour it with herb marinated roast lamb."
Sonoma Coast Stage Gulch Syrah 2001
Dean & DeLuca Wine & Food Letter
"The Lost Canyon Stage Gulch Syrah is ripe and meaty with cherry blueberry sorbet, and smoke with some white pepper notes creeping in, nice mouth structure with defined length and complexity."
